Day 10 - Morning Tour of the Poas Volcano. Transfer to the airport in San Jose for a bittersweet day of flying home.
This was our final day in Costa Rica and we certainly couldn’t have left with out seeing this outstanding volcano. Although sad that we were leaving we had our final stop at the beautiful Poas Volcano National Park. At this National Park we got to see two of the volcanoes craters. The first crater we saw was the Northern crater, which is a large active crater filled with an acidic center. Then we traveled up 800 meters where we reached the Southern inactive crater. This crater is filled with rainwater, and known as the Botos Lake. The southern crater is surrounded by a forest of many leaves(biggest ones known as a poor man's umbrella leaf), and trees. After traveling to see the craters we left for the San Jose airport and took our journey home from Costa Rica. After departing San Jose at 2:05pm we arrived in Miami airport for our 4 hour lay over and then our flight back home to Washington DC where we arrived at 12:25 am. We certainly all had an AMAZING trip to Costa Rica, where we got to explore the entire country and dive into their growing culture and atmosphere.
