Day 3 - Sunrise bird and monkey watching expedition. Horseback Riding through the Rain Forest. White Water Rafting along the Sarapiqui River. Walking Tour of the Rain Forest surrounding the Selve Verde Lodge.
The team woke up for an early 6:00 AM bird watching tour around the Selva Verde Lodge rainforest. We saw toucans, monkeys, and many other different birds and animals. After the tour, the team walked through the rainforest to the suspension bridge over the Sarapiqui River. Although some teammates were scared to walk across the bridge, we all faced our fears and walked across the bridge (even Coach!). The team then ate breakfast and drove to the Horseback Riding and White Water Rafting tours. We first went horseback riding through the beautiful rainforest and saw all sorts of birds, animals, and vegetation. We rode up and down steep hills which was all very exhilarating! After two hours of riding horses, we came back to our starting spot and met with our white water rafting guides. The team divided into three groups and went down the rapids of the Sarapiqui River. Some of the rapids had interesting and fitting names such as “Batman” and “Ay Caramba.” Midway through our rafting tour, we took a break and swam in the river. After two hours of white water rafting, we returned to the starting location and ate a delicious buffet lunch.
The team then drove back to the Selva Verde Lodge and had free time. After a long and exciting day, the team relaxed and spent time with each other while others slept through the rain storm until dinner. We ate another great meal for dinner at the Selva Verde Lodge, and then discussed our travel plans to La Fortuna for the following day. After dinner, we spent time packing and organizing our things, hung out on the porch outside our rooms, and went to sleep early after a wonderful day. At this point in the trip, this day was one of the most exciting since we had so many fun activities planned. Although we were all exhausted by the end of it, it was totally worth it and got everyone even more excited for our upcoming plans in our Costa Rica tour.
