After a fantastic two days at the Selva Verde Lodge, we got back on the bus and headed to the Arenal Volcano- Fortuna Region. We stopped along the way at the Iguana restaurant for ice cream. There were many iguanas sitting outside the restaurant, on the trees surrounding the restaurant, and down by the river. It was pretty amazing how many iguanas were just sitting in front of the restaurant; we had never seen anything like it before. After taking many pictures, we got ice cream and then got back on the bus. Once we arrived in Fortuna we had an hour and a half to walk around and explore. Fortuna was a small town filled with many souvenir shops. These souvenir shops had everything from clothing to wooden pottery. After souvenir shopping we ate lunch at a restaurant Roberto recommended to us. The restaurant served delicious Costa Rican dishes such as chicken and fish accompanied with rice, beans, and plantains. After a great lunch we drove to our hotel resort Arenal Paraiso. The hotel was beautiful, and to top it off it had a spa, pool, and hot springs. We dropped off our suitcases and went straight to the spa to get massages and other treatments. People who were waiting for their massages went to the hot springs. After spending a relaxing afternoon at the spa and hot springs we went to a pizza place in town for dinner. This was the first time we had Italian food in Costa Rica and it was very tasty. Some people ate pizza with vegetables or meat, while others had pasta. To end the night we went to a local ice cream place, which had unique flavors. After getting ice cream we headed back to our hotel and packed for our next day of activities.
