August 5, 2010 - Arrival at Jaco Beach

Picture
Day 6 started with checking out from our hotel and hitting the road for the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica to the beach town of Jaco. We left early on in the morning, and made two stops along the way. The first stop was at a local restaurant that our driver, Edward, recommended. Simple and delicious meal of typical Costa Rican food: rice, beans, plantains, chicken and tortillas complete with pico de gallo and refried beans. We left the restaurant on foot and walked along a bridge looking over the Rio Sucio. At the river, we looked down and saw the largest concentrated population of crocodiles in Costa Rica and took tons of photos. After getting back on the bus, we drove about another hour along scenic roads. We arrived at our ocean front hotel and immediately hit the beach. It was cloudy, so we did not get much sun, but we walked along and explored for a bit. After some of us took our first steps in the Pacific Ocean, we got dressed up and went into town for a team dinner. Fresh seafood along with the normal Costa Rican sides (rice and beans) made for a delicious meal. Afterwards, we walked around in downtown Jaco and went to a local ice cream shop.
